The first top rows display the causality between the membrane potential and the calcium concentration depicted in the last two rows, respectively. The calcium and voltage time series were approximated by a stationary Markov process of order 2 and the KGC algorithm was applied using a polynomial kernel with p = 1 (first row) and p = 2 (second row).
