We devised a schema of six categories of dendritic morphology in order to facilitate the semiquantitative description of the development of DCX-positive cells. The focus is on apical dendrites because basal dendrites were not clearly discernible under physiological conditions. In reality, the six categories, A through F, reflect a continuum.
