Pathway activity profiling graph. The activity score for each metabolic pathway was plotted using the control (sham-operated) group as a reference. The activity score were based on 96 metabolites identified by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry analysis of cerebral cortex derived from rats from the middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO)-induced ischemia followed by some duration of reperfusion (1, 3, 5, 24-h) groups and the control group. Only pathways with statistical significance (P < 0.05) are shown. The pentose phosphate pathway was the highly ranked pathway, and the pattern of activity score in the pentose phosphate pathway was unique (see text for details). The right column demonstrates Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes orthology.
